I adore reading about Sophia and Dommi. Those two are going to grow into forces to be reckoned with individually & no doubt as a team! The things Dommi says and does always make me smile...but when Reno asked Jimmy and Dommi to define him as a father..Dommi's response had me laughing out loud!That being said, Reno's double standard take on Jimmy and Val's ---we-all-should-have-seen-it coming-incident...Reno's opinion of it while expected....I was wishing he could have been some what unbiased....however, adding Val's arbitrary dispersing of private family matters to an outsider...I was swayed to Reno's side regarding Val and Jimmy.
However, Reno's secretive meetings with his 'old friend'...whom he had no problems dropping everything and making time for made me wish Big Daddy would make an appearance to administer Reno one of his slaps...Gina's main complaint with Reno being his long hours and spending little to no time with his family...and he is on a leash held by his 'old friend'.....Reno is always quick to point out and call Sal on his sneaky ways and to warn Sal of the consequences to Sal's relationship to Gemma. Reno insinuates with Sal that if there is nothing to hide, he should put it out there for Gemma....Yet, Reno, put his relationship with Gina in jeopardy unnecessarily by withholding information about his 'old friend'. I felt that with all the other drama, Reno could have been forth coming with Gina about his 'old friend'....it wouldn't have taken from the story, just added a nice flavor to it.
As for Jimmy and Val...not meant to be...Val revealed that she has always felt like a back seat passenger to her own life. She needs to be free to figure out what she wants and take control of her life choices...Jimmy needs to do the same so he can mature into a man who is able to walk beside Reno rather than tagging along wondering how to measure up to his father.
Congrats to Sal and Gemma! Even as I read about their impending parenthood....for some reason, I felt a taint of sadness; like tragedy waiting in the wings....

Reno loves his family. Although it can be smothering sometimes but his family knows his heart. I want to see what Reno is going to do about Domi because he is out of control. What will take to make him learn he is still a child. Looking forward to the next book.
I loved most of the book, but please Ms Monroe, have someone for Jimmy that complements him. He is still suffering from having been chosen to die. I would like to see his character develop as an educated mover and shaker. The best way to break the rules is to learn them first. He needs to be kick-a $$ in a boardroom/law office way. And Valerie is not a mate for him. "First rule of Fight club..." mantra must be learned by Valerie. Jimmy really needs a Gemma-type woman. Valerie's character just never developed for me; along the lines of Grace for Tommy. They need strong women as well.
This book was like riding a rolletcoaster with its sharp turns and switch backs!
Thr authot did a great job with the characters. Hopefully Jazz will realize that there is no coming between Reno and Trina. Great about Sal and Gemma. Ms. Monroe you rock!
As always a good read but I still don't like the typical "wise guy" way the characters interact. Don't like Val for Jimmy at all and I'll be glad when she's gone because she really seems more like Shanks, without all the training, than anyone. I'm ready to get back to my two favorites Sal and Mick now though.
When Mallory Monroe comes back with another addition to what is a excellent series,and its about the first family aka Reno and Trina,you know you are going to get something spectacular!This was a story with a mature Reno and Trina who not only love and trust one another but will go to hell and back to protect that love and family.I love that there are moments when you just out right laugh out loud and sigh when you know once again that this family is pulled in again.But as always don't count a Gabrini out.This was good and it was fresh and moved at a pace were you never get down time or a dull moment.
Another hit! I do want Reno to get a taste of his own medicine with Trina when it comes to that double standard of his. He stays out all night to "handle his business" but can never be upfront about what the "business" is i.e. Stephanie Deevers! I assume that if he had told Trina she would've had a problem with his "business". I like it when Trina stands up to him and calls him out on his mess! I just wish that she showed him some for real consequences sometimes. I am DONE with Val, DONE do you hear me? I would be good if she's killed or runs off or something. Pair Jimmy up Oprah....its time Jimmy got a quality chick not someone that's ALWAYS pining for another man. Especially his dad, she's sick and needs help. How do you keep doing that? To Trina and Jimmy, people who know that you're infatuated with their husband and father respectively. Jazz keeps popping back up like some ole ill-treated STD. Trina needs to beat that tail and then kick her out of her life for good! Love this series, keep 'em coming Ms Monroe!
This book was action pack, Ms Monroe, put her foot on this one. I love it from beginning till end. Poor jimmy I'm praying ms Monroe will get it right for him, I want to see him to be happy and in love just like his father; especially after everything he been through. For a minute Tree had me scared with the motel scene, am I the only one who think she become a lot like Reno lol. I am so happy for Sal can't wait for him and Gem book. On a seriously note why is jazz still walking around Vegas, Tree need to get rid of her asap. Question though Is that a private school Dommi attending, if so why can't they discipline him? Tree and Reno need to find a better school for them or homeschool them. Can jimmy move back to Vegas, he needs to be near his parents. To me Jimmy was a hero in this book and I'm proud oh him, his father didn't sal or tommy because he was there for his family proud of him. Now he just need a woman on his level to compliment him. Anyway I love the book couldn't put it down.
